Navigating the online job boards for tech roles can be an absolute nightmate. Whether its badly written job ads or poorly constructed job descriptions, candidates are often battered with alot of irrelevant information and very little useful information... no wonder there is a candidate shortage! So with that in mind, I wanted to go against the grain and attempt to summarise this role with only the key points I feel are relevant to potential job-seekers such as yourself... any feedback (even if you don't want to apply) would be fantastic. Here goes... The Company They are a Global E-Commerce Provider operating in the online space, providing a service that spans over 150 countries across the world. They have a state-of-the-art platform enabling them to constantly provide their customers with the best possible service and pride themselves on their willingness to embrace technology rather than fear it. They are on a long journey towards their ultimate goal of being a fully Agile service provider and they need you to help them get to that stage. The question is whether you feel you are up to the challenge? The Role This position will be based out of their main HQ in Manchester and will involve operating in a 'Lead Engineer' capacity for one of their product teams. They are in the middle of a huge Agile transformation and your role will involve driving Agile methodologies throughout the product development lifecycle. This role will ultimately encompass four key areas including people management, Agile, software delivery and hands on programming - therefore, what I am looking for is essentially a 'hybrid candidate' (I hate using the word 'unicorn') who can wear all of the aforementioned hats at the same time... quite the trick. The role will involve working closely with a range of internal stakeholders including Product Managers, Software Engineers, QA and the CTO. You will work across the full development spectrum using a range of technologies including Java, Struts, Hibernate, Spring, Amazon Web Services and ReactJS. Moreover, they are going through a huge DevOps push so you will be working closely with DevOps Engineers throughout the process. One of the major aspects of this role will be driving home coding standards and best practice as this organisation operates a 'quality-first' approach to software development. You will be expected to get involved in code reviews and testing processes with a focus on ensuring soltuions are delivered to the highest possible spec. A large part of this role will involve greenfield development so a background working on new development projects would be highly advantageous. Fundamentally, these guys are all about being product driven rather than project driven so the key factor underpinning this role is 'quality'.
