JOB TITLE: Senior Statistician
SALARY & BENEFITS: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience
WORKING HOURS: Full Time, Monday - Friday
THE COMPANY: Our client is one of the UK's leading education consultancies, specialising in the design, development and deployment of qualifications and their underpinning assessment, and in the evaluation of their performance and impact. It is seeking an experienced individual to act as Senior Statistician.
THE ROLE: The senior statistician will be a specialist in the technical area of statistics, with experience of delivering statistical/quantitative research work in education, ideally in an awarding organisation or other assessment organisation. Working within the quantitative research team, and as a line report to the director of quantitative research, the post-holder will provide high quality statistical outputs as part of AlphaPlus's educational research and consultancy services. They will also undertake project management to assist the smooth running of the projects in which they are involved.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Statistician role to include:-
Managing the receipt and quality assurance of large datasets, and the production of data guides.
Liaising with suppliers of data to clarify requirements and deal with errors.
Merging, managing and processing the datasets.
Undertaking descriptive and inferential data analysis on planned and ad hoc activities.
Undertaking interpretative work.
Working with the wider research and evaluation team to integrate evidence from quantitative analysis.
Managing data resources (maintaining data securely, etc).
Writing project reports.
Liaising directly with clients to specify requirements and report findings.
Planning and delivering internal and external training relating to assessment statistics.
THE CANDIDATE: For the role of Senior Statistician, you will have excellent attention to detail, be able to work independently to a high standard. You will have excellent customer service skills, communicating effectively with external and internal customers. You will participate actively in generating new business and be creative in thinking of how to win new work. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Manchester or be prepared to relocate.
Key requirements essential for the role of Senior Statistician:-
Specialist in the technical area of statistics
Experience of delivering statistical/quantitative research work in education, ideally in an awarding organisation or other assessment organisation
Project management skills
Statistics knowledge, possessing a master's degree or higher
High level statistical skills
Professional experience as a statistician or quantitative researcher
Proven track record of delivering high level statistical work
